February 2002. . |
I believe that this two tone colour scheme is based on Phil Whittaker's
car here in the UK.
Nigel has been a regular visitor to this site for a long time.
The
body & chassis was supplied by
Murray Fraser here in Perth.

It is powered by a 2 litre Toyota 3Y
engine, linked to a Celica 5 speed aluminium box. Nigel had problems
with the first engine he fitted, as it was not up to the standard
that the company said it was.

The supplier eventually gave me back
most of my costs, to make me go away.
Consequently, I have now removed the engine and am installing a new
short block and will bolt the reconditioned head etc back on over
the weekend. |

The dash and wooden trims are made from
a Western Australian hardwood called Jarrah, which I believe is
unique to our State. |

The seats are leather (actually from a batch of 30 half
hides I had dyed in Africa nearly 20 years ago, to recover seats in a 3.8
litre Mark 10 Jag).

| Nigel is now thinking about building
another JBA. He is considering a slightly longer version and probably
fitted with a 3.5 Rover V8 bored out to 3.9.
It sounds very much as though nobody has built a
stretched version which seems like a pretty good reason for
building one!
This is the most beautiful State all the same -
I was down on the (Swan) river the other morning at 5.30am and watched
a pod of five dolphins, including a very recent calf, rolling past me
on their way to the Peth city jetty - not bad for a Capital city!
- We have at least nine separate dolphin pods in the river, not
counting seals - or sharks, which also visit.
As for snow, we never get that in Perth, although we
have skiing resorts over on the Eastern seaboard.

Perth in Scotland is only 48 kilometers from me and we do get snow.
