The Falcons Nest

JBAOC at Dalmeny Show South Queensferry

JBA Owners Club Scottish Show at Dalmeny House, South Queensferry.

This was  a sort of continuation of the Scottish week for three couples. John and Morag Donaldson, Dave and Joan Tennant, Bunny and myself left Dumfries and headed for Dalmeny about a two and a half hour drive pulling the caravans. When we arrived at Beattock the rain started, by the time we reached Edinburgh it was torrential. Bunny and I decided to go home as we live a short distance from Dalmeny.

David and Joan tried the camp site and phoned to say it was awash, they also went home. John and Morag found another campsite and stayed there overnight, as they live in the West of Scotland.

Sunday dawned and it was dry. Amazing our luck, last evening we all thought the show would be a disaster, due to the weather conditions. The sun started to shine.

We had nine Falcons on the stand.

Bob Bagnall from Dalgety Bay had to abandon his visit. His JBA Falcon Roadster developed a serious fuel leak as he started off.

The show which is held at Dalmeny House was quite well attended. A large display of Classic cars. Not as many as usual, I guess the recent weather put many people off.

Many people took the guided tour of the house itself.

The site faces onto the river Forth near to the Forth Bridge.

Last years show had to be cancelled due to the foot and mouth epidemic.

The Scottish Kit Car Club had a large stand.

Nice to see Alex Sargent's JBA Javelin on the Capri Club Scotland Stand. It first appeared here in the year 2000.

Since then it has been fitted with a Rover V8 engine running on LPG. The Javelin is looking even more attractive with it's new alloy wheels.

I only spotted one Beauford at the show. A beautful car used for weddings.

Perhaps David Young of Beauford Cars might consider taking a trip up to Scotland with one of his cars.

After all they did go to Ireland with JBA.

The Imp Club put on a nice show.

Reg Hartley still continues with his JBAOC membership since he sold his Plus 2 a couple of years ago. Reg is 75 years old and had to give up driving, due to his eye site deteriorating.

I travelled up to Perth to bring him to the show. He really enjoyed his day. He was full of praise about Malcolm Jones, who had bought his Falcon.
As it was looking superb.

A nice display of vintage and veteran cars.

John and Morag Donaldson's Falcon TSR.

A lovely MG TD of the 1950's.

Indeed we were very lucky with the weather. There was a large array of stalls, which many members visited and were quite pleased with the prices being asked.

This is turning into the largest show in Scotland and I am looking forward to next year.
