The Falcons Nest

Nederlandse versie  JBA Owners Club Trip to Holland Nederlandse versie

Eighteen JBA's left the UK from England Scotland and Wales to visit our Dutch friends in Holland from 7th. September to 14th. September 2001.
Three were unable to attend. Bob Foreman's car was undergoing repairs and was not ready in time, Brian Jones was unable to have the time off, due to work commitments.  Bad luck fell on Donald and Christine Collier, their car broke down at the Channel Tunnel with diff problem s.
However after their JBA was transported home, they flew out to Amsterdam and hired a car to join us at Ginkelduin.
This trip was arranged by Leo Groeneweg who lives in the city of Veenendaal, Holland. Assisting him were Guust Poppe and his wife Ria

First of all let me introduce you to our hosts. Pictured below are Leo and his wife Pietje with their son Sander. Also on hand were Guust and Ria Poppe.
Guust is the JBA Owners Club representative for Holland.

Seven UK Owners from the Midlands, Wales and the North sailed from Hull to Rotterdam on the Wednesday due to Ferry bookings being full on the Thursday sailing. Although we had booked back in January, this meant an extra overnight stop in Holland.

However Leo had this in hand and had arranged an extra night at the holiday park Ginkelduin. The other UK members arrived on the Friday and also those from the south sailing from Dover.

The cars arrived in Holland from the overnight ferry crossing from Hull on Thursday morning.

On disembarking, the first cars off the ferry waited in a bay for the rest of us to catch up.  The weather was overcast 16o and six cars opted to put their hoods down but my car was crammed full and I couldn’t put mine down.  It was just as well as it started to rain and on the motorway spray was a problem, two baseball caps were blown off and found their way under lorry wheels.

We had a stop for toilets on the way and this German gentleman was overwhelmed by the sight of our Falcons.

The next stage was cleaning up the donor parts.

On arrival at Ginkelduin at 11.30am. we received a great welcome from Leo and his son Sander.

Once we had settled into our apartments, some of us went for a wander round the camp.

In the evening we congregated in the restaurant for a meal, a beer and a natter. We were anxious to meet up with the rest of our bunch, arriving on Friday.

Our first outing was to Veenendaal on Saturday to join the Veenendaalse Oldtimers Club.
