The Falcons Nest

Nederlandse versie  Veenendaalse Oldtimers Club. Nederlandse versie

We were up early to prepare for the show in Veenendaal.  The weather was sunny and warm, but the day was interrupted by numerous five minute rain showers.

The show was arranged by The Veenedaalse Oldtimers Club and we were invited as special guests. On arrival at the show we booked in and received vouchers for free food and coffee and a pass for the barbeque, which was to be held later that night, to round off our day.

A lot of interest was shown by the Dutch people in our Falcons.

The Dutch people were very friendly and helped us on many occasions.

There were many beautiful classic cars on show and in an outstanding condition, like this gorgeous Renault.

This is a beautiful 1930 Citroen.

There were many more classics ranging from later Citroens to Morris Minors, MG's, Rolls Royce, American cars, old Peugeots, DKW, Fiat Simca.

I was pleased to see this lovely Triumph Mayflower from 1950.

This model was one of my favourite cars, when I was a boy. Many, many years ago.

The line up of Falcons was impressive.

This is one end of the line, I counted 22 JBA's at the show.

Some others were parked in this area.

The children were in awe at these model trucks, which raced round the track at various times of the day.

The kids were nice and polite and they can speak English. They did not clamber over the cars at the show, like some of the children at UK shows do.

Music and Entertainment was provided by Midland 105.6 FM radio station.

They broadcast details of the show over the radio.

Mid afternoon during the show, we were invited to take part in the run round the city of Veenendaal with the VOC.

Two lots of 70 cars left from the showground at different times. We had a Police escort of two motorcycle out riders.

John and Judy Shaw were awarded the prize for the best JBA Falcon by the V.O.C. Their two tone Falcon Tourer looked superb. Well done!.

There was one hiccup at the end of the show. We were about to take part in another tour, but just as we were about to set off, the heavens opened up delaying some of us, but as we were last, we got lost. Unbeknown to us, the run was cancelled. Due to the heavy downpour a mix up was caused and word did not get down to the end of the line.

We decided to head for the Tennis Club where the barbeque was to be held and were invited in. While waiting for the rest of our party to arrive we were given coffee and rolls.  It was about two hours before the rest arrived, they had all went back to camp.

The BBQ was arranged by the Veenendaalse Oldtimers Club and once again, we were all invited.

There was a lovely spread laid on for everyone.

We had a great evening talking to to our Dutch friends.

There was a video of the day showing all our Falcons along with their beautiful classic cars and the run, showing on a large screen.

Our thanks must go to the organisers of the V.O.C. for a wonderful show and an excellent barbeque and to the Veenendaal Police Department for a beautiful run round their city. Our thanks to you all.
