Scotland is a part of the The United Kingdom.
It is situated north of England.
It is a very beautiful country and
visitors come from all over the world to visit our wonderful land.

| We have
our own legal system, which is renowned. The year 2000., saw Scotland once
again, with its
own parliament after a lapse of 300 years. Most of the traditional
industries have gone, all except one which many have tried to copy but
failed.
That is the famous Scotch Whisky a mixture of
blends second to none, made with the natural Scottish water that is
impossible to imitate. The new industry is oil from the North
Sea.

Why do So many people visit
Scotland.
The tourists come to sample its breathtaking scenery. The mountain
glens, the Lochs vast expanses of water other countries call Lakes.

As a country we support a variety of wildlife, who find the peace
and tranquillity a natural home for breeding.
The Ospreys, Eagles. Deer and
Salmon to name but a few and other forms of wildlife

Scotland is a haven for outdoor leisure sports. Hill walking,
Mountain climbing, Sailing, Boating, Fishing etc. Oh! and don't forget the
Golf.
The infamous Royal and Ancient at St.Andrews.
You will find golf courses throughout Scotland. |

| What else do we have! Castles
Edinburgh and Stirling to name just two.
Monuments....... the Wallace Monument at
Stirling the Walter Scott Monument in Edinburgh and many

Battlefields..... Culloden, Glencoe,
Bannockburn.
Eilean Donan a naval bombardment.
Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most
photographed castles in Scotland. It has been featured
in the Bond movies. Errol Flynn movies and on BBC's TV's
Balloon.

| Ancestral Homes, Art Galleries, Museums, the
list goes on. Glasgow is a host to world famous galleries and was nominated the
City of Architecture. Dunfermline......The ancient Capital of Scotland. A historic
town. Where the Scottish Kings lived. The burial place of King
Robert the Bruce. I live there and I'm ancient.
Everybody has heard of "The Carnegie Hall" well we have one in
Dunfermline donated by the same person. Andrew Carnegie born in
Dunfermline and moved to the USA.

Whisky......"The Water of Life"
| Speyside Cooperage at Craigellachie, Speyside. This cooperage is also host to a visitor centre. Here one can see
the video about the barrels being made and reworked.
Find out what barrels
are turned into after their working life.
Then take the tour and visit the gallery where you can actually see the coopers at their work. |

photo is not very good because of the reflection of the glass, separating
the gallery from the floor area. Did you know that the wood
shavings from whisky barrels are used by the Salmon Industry to smoke
salmon. |

You can also
visit the excellent shop and purchase anything from nick-knacks to garden
furniture all made on site from whisky barrels. |
| Visitors and locals alike can follow the whisky trail and visit
the Distilleries where the whisky is made.
Many of the distilleries
have visitor centres where one can partake of samples of the glorious

Most of the distilleries are situated in the glens and are
surrounded by the most beautiful scenery. Speyburn Distillery on Speyside.
