The Falcons Nest

Scott's Falcon is looking a bit sorry for it's self.

This is the story of Scott's accident that was on this website in 2001 and got lost somehow, now that I have found it again I thought it was worth re-introducing, as it shows how strong the JBA Falcon really is.
This is the second accident in Scotland that I know about, the first being Muzz Crandon's Plus 2 in 1994 which I saw being repaired at the JBA Engineering Ltd. Factory in Standish.
Most people who have had accident damage to their JBA have it repaired at the factory, as they are geared up with the proper jigs for these repairs.
With Scott being in the engineering trade he decided to do it himself.
It is related here by Scott MacNab who lives north of Aberdeen.

What happened? Well on the way to work one morning, in fact 500 yards from work, an oncoming car decided to turn right, problem was he was only 30ft from me and I was doing 35mph.

On the whole the Falcon did well, the passenger compartment was intact and both the doors still open and close properly. My only advice to everyone is to sit well back from the steering wheel and windscreen, difficult I know in such a compact interior.
If I had left my race harnesses in the JBA instead of the reel type I would have come off a lot better.
Never mind that's life, lesson learnt.

This was the oncoming car, that decided to turn right.
A write off, I would think.

I got the car back for nothing. Having a look at it (rather depressing)
I decided to fix it up to its original condition. So the front is off up to the foot wells and I have made new chassis legs and simple jig to align it all.

Fortunately the engine got only minor damage, which is by the way a fully rebuilt 2.8 V6.
The rest of the front is completely demolished except the JBA badge which even has some of his cars paint on it.

The rebuild is going well and I am using the time to fully restore the car as ten years have taken their toll on the Falcon, with it off the road I can now do all the little jobs that bugged me.

The Falcon is coming on very well. The new front chassis is now fitted along with the replacement sub frame.
Patience is the key so that heat build up is minimal and you end up with a straight chassis.

JBA Engineering Ltd., have been great as usual and supplied a copy of the engineering drawing of the front chassis so I could check it was an accurate replacement.

It is so cold that every coat of paint takes a whole day to dry, which is slowing things down. The new wings and replacement bonnet panels I had to have delivered to my work, as couriers cannot usually find the house. I don't know how I'm going to get them home (Tell them to use Multi-Map).
I still seem to have a load of work to do to the car, but hope to have the car finished by the end of February which I should be able to manage if I keep at it.

The JBA Falcon is a Lot More Stronger than Many People Imagine.

Scott's Falcon Sports and a hoist comes to the rescue when the works forklift breaks down.
Only he and his mate were working on that day.
