I travelled down over night to Stoneleigh this
year with my grandson Tony. We arrived at 7am. The weather was very cold.
Tony set about erecting his tent, in the JBA Owners Club patch, while I had
a gander round the grounds. Most people were just starting to surface.
|

|
I came upon the Scottish
Kit Car Club stand and stopped in my tracks.
A JBA at first I thought it was John and Morag's
the colours were so similar, fitted with wheel trims as well.
The Falcon belongs to Gerry Grant. |
| Venturing into the halls, which had
just opened for Exhibitors. I came across the JBA stand.
The two cars on show were the Sports factory
demonstrator and Eric Watkin's beautiful Cortina based Tourer. |

|
Of course the JBA team had not arrived at this
early hour. They can't blame me this year, ye ken. I left them a wee
note telling them "If your not Fast........ your Last". Somehow
they knew it was me, or was it because I signed the note "Safe Driving
All the Best".
I decided to take advantage of this early hour,
to collect items for Doug Philp from the trade stands. The first person I
bumped into was Ted Naylor, who was once the chairman of the Scottish Kit
Car Club. He informed me that he had just moved house from Alloa to
Wellingborough a week ago.
|

|
Returning to the car with Doug's
purchases I found the JBA Owners Club stand just setting up.
It was nice to sit down with a hot cup of tea
whilst the Committee did everything. |
| Later in the day the owners
started to turn up. As usual it was another terrific display
of about 50 cars ranging from the oldest to the latest.
Sadly no Javelins. Geoff Payne did arrive,
but his Javelin is away being repainted. |

|
Regarding the show itself, there was a big
drop in the number of manufacturers present. Plenty of trade stands
though. There was good support from all the clubs.
|

|
Some really nice cars on show.
This one was built by Derek Bintcliffe for an owner in
Newcastle upon Tyne.
The Falcon is painted in
"Snowberry" the same colour as Derek's own car. |
| Another car I liked was this
one belonging to Fred and June Ward. It has been on the road
quite a long time.
The photo doesn't do it justice. You have
to see this car in the flesh to fully appreciate it. |

A fabulous looking Sports
fitted with real wire wheels. |
| Burman Parker paid a visit with
his V8 Falcon.
This car has attracted a lot of attention at open
days and on the JBA Factory stand on a number of occassions.
Did you know Burman only gets 5 miles to the
gallon. His son gets the other 25. |

Keith And Val Hays beautiful Falcon.
Val is the Treasurer of the JBA Owners Club.
An excellent Mrs Moneypenny she is too. Did you
know that she is giving Free! yes Free! membership for this year,
until 31st. March 2002. To anyone joining
the club for the first time. |
Night time it turned very cold. After the
Barbie we hudled up outside in a lean to surrounded by three gas heaters. We
had more clothes on than the Eskimos. Being a Scotsman I had my "Bunnahabhain"
to keep me warm a nice 12 year old Scotch Whisky from the Island of Islay. The evening was
spent relating stories and thoughts. My grandson enjoyed it too, especially
the free beer. Les Whiting was on his own this year, his son was off
somewhere else.

Last, but not least, Guust Poppe, Manfred and
Bram our Dutch friends from Holland came over again this year. I did not
manage to take photos of their cars, so I am using the one from last year
taken by Stuart Kelly. Bram makes all the stainless steel fittings and boot
racks for the Falcons. He is making a special one for Burman, so that it
clears his inset reversing lights. You will see his products on Latest News
page.

The JBA stand was busy throughout
the two days.
I do not know how many orders they took, but one
customer from Scotland showed an interest.
He is visiting Morag and John from Renfrew to get
the low down about building a TSR. Perhaps another order for JBA. |
Well I did enjoy my two days, but Tony the
cook, forgot where the stove was. Hope to see you all again soon.
