Once again I travelled down over night to Stoneleigh
with my grandson Tony. We borrowed a Rover diesel and arrived at 7am the
same time as last year, but did not gain access to the grounds until 8am. The weather was
a bit cold, but not as bad as last year. I had
a look round the grounds first, then visited the stalls that were starting
to set up.
|

|
Venturing into the halls, which had
just opened for Exhibitors. I searched for the JBA stand.
Eric Watkin's beautiful Cortina based Tourer was
on show. The interior woodwork and trim are superb, as is of course
the whole car.
|
A lot of people visiting the stand thought that Eric's car
was just a show model, as there is not a mark on it. However that is not the
case, Eric has done holiday trips to Scotland with it and later this year he
is touring the Lake District.
| Many members of The JBA Owners Club
camped overnight. This Sports belongs to Daryl and Mavis Millington.
They arrived with their new baby grand daughter and Alfie their new
Tibetan Terrier puppy similar in looks to a Lhasa Apso, but a wee
bit bigger. |

|
Later in the day the owners
started to turn up. As usual it was another terrific display
someone counted 49 cars on the JBAOC stand with more on other stands.
|

|
Tessa Cameron arrived with her Leopard.
This was the first time I had seen a Leopard in the flesh, so to
speak.
The Leopard was made by JBA for the Granada TV
series "Chancer". |
| Tessa is delightful lady and
very proud of her car.
Unfortunately she has lost some of her
Wire Baskets for her Mangel wheels. The source for them has
dried up, but if anyone has any spare ones, she would love
to know. Email Tessa.

|
Regarding the show itself, there was an
increase in the number of manufacturers present. The trade stands were in
abundance though. They were mobbed on the Sunday, with many of them
returning for more stock for Monday. There was good support from all the clubs.
|

|
This Sports belongs to Pete and
Ann Henstock.
Pete is the chairman of the JBA Owners
Club. |
| Fred and June Ward's beautiful
Falcon was here again this year. This is a must see car as
the photo doesn't do it justice.
It was not until I was due to depart, that
Fred and I discovered, that we both served in The Royal
Scots Greys. The badge is just above the 9.

|
Ron and Glynis Swift's
Falcon.
Ron does not have glass side windows
fitted.
|
| Les Fragle's lovely metallic grey
Falcon Sports. My wife and my son fell in love with this colour when
Les brought it to one of the open days in 1993. |

|
|

|
It was nice to come across this Falcon
Sports SR. This was the first Sierra based sports and was the JBA
Factory demonstrator. This car along with the Cortina Sports
demonstrator had me drooling in 1992 before I had my kit.
|
The car has been altered since I last saw it,
as it now has a rear opening boot, that is fitted to the current Sports SR.
This boot was first used on the Sports SR models in 1995. Talking of SR this
particular car does not have the SR at the end of the chassis number, just S
as for Sports which applied to Cortina based cars. I guess JBA must have
forgotten, with this being the first model.
The JBA Owners Club had their A.G.M. at
Stoneleigh.
Two reps were retiring this year Alan Foxlow the Central and South
of England representative who had nominated Peter Gibbons into the
post.
Tec Williams our representative from Wales decided to retire. Many
older members will remember the beautiful runs and events that he
and Eurwen organised over many many years, like this one in the
photo. Tec was awarded the Hollings Cup this year for all his
efforts over the years. The position is now vacant and any member
from Wales interested can contact Les Fragle. Here
Enjoy your retirement Tec and
Eurwen and Alan hope to see you at Stoneleigh next year. All the Best,
Regards Robbie. |

|
Night time it was a bit cold. We gathered in
various gazebos and related stories and jokes. Donald and Christine Collier
tried to get everyone interested in Scottish dancing for their holiday week
in Scotland. It was quite a laugh. I myself can't dance a step.
 |
Once again this year our Dutch friends from Holland
arrived. Guust Poppe, Manfred and his son Christian together with
another friend. I asked Guust if he was buying any second hand JBA's,
but not this year was his reply. |
The JBA stand was busy throughout
the two days.
|
I spent most of my time going round
the trade stands and buying various bits and pieces. The time just
seems to fly and I didn't have time to speak to all the people that
I meant to. Brian Jones and Darren I meant to have a good natter
with, but suddenly they were gone.
I briefly saw Ceri Williams when he
arrived from Scotland and once again he had left before I could meet
him again.
|

|
Tony was excited when he saw this Dodge
Viper replica on the Scottish Kit Car Club stand. The car was built by Colin
Herd, who has started a company called VPR Cars to build these cars in small
numbers. The whole car is built on site including the chassis and all the
glassfibre mouldings.
Why was Tony so excited, because the car is built in his home town
Kincardine on Forth, Scotland. It really is a very beautiful car.
Well I did enjoy my two days. Hope to see
you all again next year.
